Accounting Analyst

Full job description

WBS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking an Associate Accounting Analyst/ Accounting Analyst in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin location.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with financial/accounting controls.
• Perform closing procedures including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis
• Collaborate and assist with the preparation of forecasts and budgets.
• Monitor the integrity of the systems and general ledger transactions.
• Prepare internal and external financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies, Sarbanes Oxley, and various commission reporting.
• Provide back up and rotation of responsibilities.
• Analyze large amounts of data and maintain complex spreadsheets.
• Utilize various forecasting, reporting and general ledger software.
• Provide communication related to financial statements, data requests and month end closing processes.
• Proactively improve processes and business solutions.
• This position requires working additional hours during certain times of the month.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related discipline is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience in Accounting or Finance
• Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks under time constraints
• Proficient in Microsoft excel
• The ability to learn and grasp new concepts quickly
• Attention to detail, strong initiative and results-orientated
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Experience with SAP general ledger or another ERP system preferred
