Full Job Description

Full job description

In support of Undergraduate Admission (UA) efforts to meet annual new student recruitment and enrollment goals, the Admission Officer assists in all areas of undergraduate admissions evaluation for freshman and transfer applicants. This expertise is acquired through training and experience in the position. The position serves as resource to staff in UA, including other evaluators, public relations staff and recruitment specialists, for issues and problems related to admission to the University. The Admission Officer also visits community colleges in California, and possibly a limited number of high schools, providing substantive information about UCLA specifically, and the University of California generally (as required) to prospective students and counselors related to University admissions requirements, processes and deadlines, as well as general information about scholarships and financial aid, housing and campus services. Also serves as a resource on undergraduate admissions topics to the external community, including high school counselors, representatives from other universities, and UCLA faculty, advisors and administrators. Under direction and guidance the incumbent interprets UC's complex requirements for admission and will ultimately make independent decisions regarding the acceptance of transfer coursework for domestic and foreign institutions to the University, and represents the University and UA at conferences and meetings. The incumbent may participate in interdepartmental and UC system wide meetings regarding admission to the University. The Admission Officer may be assigned a specific target population or have a specific set of duties and may specialize in that area, but will be sufficiently well-versed to work with a variety of prospective student audiences. Examples of special populations and programs include, but are not limited to: back-up liaison with UCLA campus departments or programs; assisting with two- and four-year college articulation; evaluation of international student records, and more.
