Job Overview: A position with Target Packaging is an opportunity to lead packaging development for Target's beloved brands, exclusive partnerships and select transit packaging. Their influence will drive sales and increase brand awareness through customer-focused, brand-focused, competitive on-shelf, and category-relevant packaging. Here, you'll leverage internal and external partnerships to carry out packaging planning, project management, print development, copying and structural development to achieve brand expression and market differentiation. Your job will prioritize and manage packaging projects, ensuring you have the right resources and creative needs to deliver on time and within budget. As part of a global team spanning the US, China and India, you will have partners in overseas sourcing offices as well as international vendors and suppliers. It will support the structural design and development of new, improved, more sustainable and profitable own-brand packaging for the home, including kitchen, bathroom, bedding, storage and more.
As an Associate Packaging Engineer, you will:
- Ensure that the primary packaging protects, contains and displays the product from the initial idea to the final use for the assigned categories and activities.
- Support business commitments and requirements through item-level specifications.
- Actively participate in the prototyping and development of Target packaging structural concepts for our branded products.
- Work across the enterprise with key internal and external partners to define packaging requirements and identify optimal packaging solutions.
- He becomes a structural packaging expert for assigned categories working under the supervision of a Lead or Senior Packaging Engineer.
- Review vendor structure options and component capabilities
- Design solutions that deliver cost savings, sustainability, and other relevant priorities
- Develop and refine structural specifications for packaging.
- Approve supplier projects in a timely manner.
- Contribute to category and item level market research including guest testing and feedback.
- Draw conclusions from relevant data and make appropriate recommendations.
Requirements:
- Four-year degree or equivalent experience
- 1- 2years of experience
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize requests and meet deadlines
- Motivation to learn new skills, with a passion for engineering and design.
- Ability to work independently and strategically in a fast-paced, multi-project environment
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with Artios CAD and ESKO products and PMP certification preferred
- Previous experience in project management, Scrum or Sprint methodologies is required.
