IFF is hiring an Associate Scientist to join our Molecular & Microbiology R&D team in Palo Alto, CA.
At IFF Health & Biosciences, our R&D team develops microbial production strains (bacteria, yeast and filamentous fungi) and engineers enzymes for applications in the areas of food & beverages, biofuels, home & personal care, animal feed, paper & textile processing, and more. We have a strong focus on creating sustainable solutions on an industrial scale, and we are constantly evolving and innovating to offer competitive high-end products for our international customers.

For this position, we are looking for a self-motivated researcher with strong skills in Molecular Biology and programming. An interest in conducting DNA-based experiments and an ability to execute routine molecular biology tasks is required. Enthusiasm for teamwork and troubleshooting is also desired.
The work will involve one or more aspects of the following:

• Molecular biology methods such as cloning, PCR, qPCR, gDNA extraction, DNA sequencing and microbial transformation
• Automation
• Analyzing and communicating experimental results
• Staying current with relevant scientific and technical literature
• Preparing and presenting technical reports, data summaries, protocols

Job Requirements

• MS degree (or equivalent experience) in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Biology, Biotechnology or similar with 1-3 years of laboratory research.
• Molecular biology experience
• Python and/or R programming experience is required
• Experience or strong interest in learning automation and high throughput methods
• Hands-on mentality and strong affinity for lab work
• Eagerness to continuously learn and investigate
• Goal oriented with a self-starter can-do attitude
• Teamworking mindset and ability to multitask
• Good communication, presentation, and networking skills

The salary range for this position is $77,300- $96,600
