Full Job Description:
We are seeking an exceptional privacy attorney to lead our global privacy and data protection legal and compliance strategy. This is a global and cross-functional role, with a key point of contact across every team in our dynamic business. This lawyer will work in collaboration with his colleagues in the business world, while demonstrating business skills and the ability to achieve results in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
This position can be based in Boston, Austin, Mountain View, Seattle or Toronto offices with a hybrid work schedule, 4 days in office and 1 day off per week.
What to do
Implement our global privacy and data protection programs in collaboration with other business and privacy partners.
Support, develop and improve key privacy program strategies - including data reduction, classification and classification - in complex technology environments. Lead responses to privacy or data protection or legal questions.
Draft, negotiate and approve data privacy and security of business transactions and business plans, including vendor assessments, impact/risk assessments, data processing agreements and data transfer procedures. Maintain a knowledge base of laws, regulations and requirements as well as business controls related to privacy and data protection.
Develop and maintain business- and customer-friendly disclosures, policies, procedures, and processes, including those that support data subject rights and customer privacy journeys. Liaise with technical advisors on product development privacy through design and build consensus between competing product goals and privacy principles.
Work with other attorneys in the legal field as a privacy expert and promote active privacy champions.
What you will need
A JD has an outstanding college degree and membership in at least one state association.
Experience with CCPA, CPRA, other US privacy laws, GDPR, marketing laws (e.g. TCPA) and experience with privacy requirements of the most advanced technology platforms and cybersecurity regulations. A proactive candidate, including a willingness to roll up the sleeves, participate and resolve complex issues with the wider Wayfair team, including legal and non-legal staff.
Excellent interpersonal, business-friendly and spirited writing and communication skills, including good negotiation and relationship-building skills. Project management experience with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines and manage change in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
