Performs order entry and related tasks to support the medication dispensing process.

• Calculate and/or verify the correct dose according to the prescription
• Contact your doctor about any drug prescriptions to receive a hard copy within the time frame required by state law
• Help ensure that drug prescriptions are returned in a timely manner
• Enter new and reload orders in a timely and accurate manner. Process orders based on assigned priority
• Prepare backup pharmacy orders
• Comply with a process that addresses all state and federal drug labeling guidelines.
• Provide dispensing pharmacists with information on allergies and drug interactions, therapeutic duplications, and other computer-tagged items.
• Courteously assists all internal and external clients
• Consult with the dispensing pharmacist regarding prescription ordering, out-of-stock items, order entry issues, or concerns.
• Complete all data fields in accordance with pharmacy procedures, including use of approved abbreviations.
• Classify customer service inquiries by department, urgency, and information/answer required.
• Collect, prioritize and classify incoming faxes in the corresponding department/area.
• Create and maintain accurate customer records
• Coordinate/manage "STAT" order process (verify e-kit inventory list and fax to customer)
• Understand the Medicare policy and co-pay requirements/guidelines
• Comply with all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA.
• Assist with pharmacy workflow as needed
• Take significant steps to ensure that all treatment needs and regulatory compliance standards are met for our patients and demonstrate ethical conduct and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Comply with and fully comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulations.
• Maintain the highest professional and ethical standards.

Qualifications Required

• Verifiable high school diploma or GED required
• The ability to focus on one activity for a period without being distracted
• Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with clients and colleagues.
• Actively listen by paying close attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand points being made, asking appropriate questions and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
• The ability to use math to solve a problem, such as calculating the daily supply of a prescription.
