GENERAL SUMMARY/PRIMARY FUNCTION
Responsible for making our #1 critical success factor, safety first, a priority in all tasks and activities performed by self and all others involved. As a Journeyman Electrician, your Primary duties are to plan, layout, install and/or repair cable, conduit and equipment in the most workmanlike manner possible. The Journeyman Electrician at Duro Electric performs duties primarily in a jobsite setting. This position will report directly to a designated foreman or Superintendent.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Works independently or with foreman to plan installations that minimize wasted materials, provide appropriate accesses, avoid unsightly or hazardous installations and meet all appropriate electrical codes.
2. Prepares sketches of proposed and/or installed materials, as necessary.
3. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit using the most appropriate tool for the particular function.
4. Pulls wire.
5. Prepares wire splices using industry best practices for the required splice-type.
6. Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays and circuit-breaker panels.
7. Connects power cables to equipment and installs grounding leads.
8. Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using appropriate testing equipment.
9. Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and needed adjustments, relocations or replacements.
10. Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
11. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Educational and experience requirements include: High school diploma plus some work-related training and/or experience. Employee must be proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and cleaning and moving equipment. Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
Journeyman Electrician’s license preferred
Background check, credit check, MVR and drug screen may be required (will vary with position).
