Lead the team that builds strategy and executes campaigns to maximize engagement and retention of existing Starbucks Rewards members. This role will determine the right mix of offerings, experiences and communications to reward members for their loyalty, deepen their engagement and ultimately become advocates for the Starbucks brand and the Starbucks Rewards loyalty program. You will work across channels to ensure clarity of offering and messaging to our members across communication channels and ensure they are implemented, activated and measured correctly. Understanding customer lifetime value will be key to maximizing the return on investment of our member retention. This role requires someone to lead with a customer-centric approach and possess excellent financial and analytical acumen, the ability to create and execute effective marketing strategies and a deep understanding of how to leverage technology and digital capabilities to drive growth. Leveraging your previous experience, we will allow you to:
- Leads a team of approximately 4 marketing experts focused on engaging, retaining and recognizing existing Starbucks Rewards members and works closely with the onboarding marketing team to ensure consistency in member experience throughout the retention lifecycle
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the impact of engagement, retention, and awareness campaigns based on customer insights, customer-level testing, and quantitative analysis.
- Lead and collaborate with our internal and external agencies (Media, Creative, Marketing Operations) in the development of all marketing communications for engagement, retention and recognition campaigns (from information to summary, production to implementation).
- Advocate for an omnichannel mindset when implementing marketing campaigns. Lead marketing channels on loyalty communication strategies to ensure user experience needs for Starbucks Rewards members are integrated into owned, paid and affiliate marketing channels.
- Collaborate with analytics and finance teams to clearly measure, monitor, and report on member behavior, engagement, and retention at the member level and in the aggregate. Continuously refine and optimize strategies through a test-and-learn approach.
- Maximize value among Starbucks Rewards members by understanding potential value and optimizing offers and communications. Work with Analytics to understand all available first-party and third-party customer insights for optimal targeting and relevant messaging.
We'd love to hear from people with:
- 2+ years working in a fast-paced, high-volume, consumer-facing corporate or agency environment with responsibility for retention or marketing strategy with a strong knowledge base of direct-to-client/CRM marketing programs across own channels and payments. Multi-channel retail experience is a plus.
- Strategic Thought Leadership: Possess business acumen with the ability to handle complex and ambiguous business problems and develop strategic solutions.
- Business Acumen: Possesses strong financial acumen and the ability to create business plans that include financial performance levers. Agile decision making, entrepreneurial nature, ability to formulate a strong point of view and strategically adjust plans in a changing environment. P&L management experience.
- Customer-Centric Mindset: Dig insights and develop relevant strategies that drive preference and loyalty for Starbucks. Leverage the experience of leveraging customer segmentation and customer journeys to deliver relevant programs, benefits, and experiences to drive business outcomes.
- Analytical: synthesizes complex and diverse information to synthesize marketing plans.
- Results Oriented: Sets the vision and articulates the desired outcome and works collaboratively to create a path to achieve it.
- Effective Communication and Collaboration: Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills; Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely communicate opportunities to influence stakeholders
- Team building and leadership: Proven leadership experience and ability to lead and influence; Strong collaboration skills with a proven track record of collaborating across organizational boundaries, working with and influencing others, and creating clarity out of confusion.
- A Bachelor of Arts/Science (BA/BS) in business or marketing is required.
- Preferably MBA.
