Job Description
For over 30 years, Gilead has been a leading innovator in treating and preventing HIV, but this expertise is just a foundation for our ambitions. As we continue to expand our scope into new disease states and new markets, we are transforming all aspects of our operations, including the activities that keep our employees and partners safe no matter where they live or work.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Corporate Security (Operations), this role will lead and manage Gilead’s Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) and the Field Security Team at the Foster City campus, providing centralized, global support to our enterprise as well as supporting the on-site security team at our corporate headquarters. This is a site-based position located Foster City, CA.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Review and refresh best-in-class security operations procedures and processes to ensure the security of Gilead’s on-site population, assets and information and mitigate global risks
- Lead the GSOC contract security team, ensuring performance and continuous improvement as measured by established and documented SLAs and compliance to internal policies and local laws and regulations
- Manage the Foster City campus contract security team, setting and prioritizing goals, improving performance standards and managing the security vendor through frequent and data-driven feedback
- Ensure welfare checks, crisis management notifications and Foster City investigations are conducted appropriately
- Proactively engage and collaborate with Corporate Security, Corporate Operations leadership and other relevant stakeholders to support enterprise systems and programs, ad-hoc security requests in Foster City, and GSOC support to global sites (travel, site assistance)
- Manage GSOC and Foster City Security budgets, continually looking for budget efficiencies while improving operations
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- 6+ years of experience plus a BS/BA or 4+ years of experience plus a MA/MS in a relevant field
- 10 years of experience plus a High School diploma or 8 years of experience plus an Associates degree
- Deep knowledge of physical security and global security center operations best practices
- Experience managing a global security operations center and crisis management and emergency response, both tactical and operational
- Experience managing physical security operations/field operations through third party suppliers, including planning for event security and identifying risks
- Ability to manage and resolve complex problems in a variety of situations and across global locations
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills to collaborate and communicate across multiple levels in the organization
- Proven track record collecting, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics. Prior experience incorporating digital enhancements to drive efficiencies preferred
- Demonstrates Gilead’s leadership commitments
- ASIS CPP certification preferred
The salary range for this position is: $133,280.00 - $172,480.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
