Job Overview:
The Inn at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Market Manager to join our team. As a Market Manager, you will be responsible for managing and growing our market presence, driving sales, and building strong relationships with clients. This is a key leadership role that requires excellent communication skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the operation of the market food and beverage program. Works with the Market Chef and Retail Supervisor to provide a positive, high-performing environment with a focus on exceptional quality and service.
  • Assigns work duties and side work to team members and ensures assigned duties are completed.
  • Ability to learn all beverages and ensure consistency with all staff members for beverage recipes.
  • Familiarize self and staff with displayed brands and storage drawers and cabinets pertaining to retail.
  • Ensure the daily retail checklist is complete at the close of each shift by scheduled staff to include but not limited to daily tidy, general retail replenishment, etc.
  • Responds to and resolves customer concerns and complaints. Corrects potential problems before they affect customers.
  • Maintains the highest standards and consistency of quality control, hygiene, legality, health, and safety.
  • Prepares and reconciles cash drawers, monitors, and maintains strict and consistent adherence to company cash control policies, including manager’s accountability and responsibility for any cash inconsistencies.
  • Prepares and records any change order reimbursements according to company policies and procedures.
  • Performs adjustments of transaction checks as needed and provides all necessary backup documentation and forms according to company policies and procedures, in matters such as voids, comps, discounts, coupons, methods of payment as well as accounts receivables, trades, and walkouts.
  • Controls costs whenever possible, such as labor, waste, property damage, theft, and energy.
  • Ensures profit margins are maintained and agreed costs are not exceeded.
  • Oversee all Market to the Room and orders for The Spa; delivered promptly.
  • Assists with Retail Supervisor whenever necessary.
  • Attend a weekly meeting with the Retail Supervisor to discuss retail top sellers, new brand details, weekly sales, and incentives, etc.
  • Assists team members in the execution of their work duties.
  • Ensures that all team members adhere to all company policies and procedures uniformly and without exception, such as uniform standards, attendance, and reconciling financial transactions.
  • Ensure accurate time and attendance records are consistently maintained by team members to safeguard payroll accuracy.
  • Consistent documenting and disciplining of team members not following the company’s policies and procedures and close communication with the Human Resources Manager as well as members of the management team.
  • Uses properly designed company forms when providing documentation (PAF form, corrective counseling, performance review, etc.) and submits copies to the Human Resources Manager.
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, and development of team members.
  • Implements posted work schedules while adjusting as necessary to cover team member callouts or shortages and adjust the amount of staff on hand as business dictates (labor cost control).
  • Responsible for the ordering and maintaining of adequate and appropriate inventory for the retail operations of the Market.
  • Procures items from supply storage as needed (sanitary supplies, hand towels, coffee, silver, glassware, etc.)
  • Maintains a clean appearance of facilities during shift.
  • Reports all malfunctioning equipment to the Engineering Department as needed with information and copy to the Director of Hotel Operations.
  • Obtain and secure lost-and-found items with documentation according to company procedures.
  • Consistent enforcement of the Health Department, Alcohol Awareness Training (TIPS), and other regulations and guidelines on behalf of the company, team members, and guests.

Supervisor Responsibility:

Oversees and supervises the entire Market staff.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a Restaurant/Bar setting. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required.

Physical Demands:

  • Walk and stand during the entire shift.
  • Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop and wipe.
  • Remain stationary for long periods of time.
  • Frequently wash hands.
  • Be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Be able to manipulate fingers, hands, and arms to cut, measure, pour, serve, carry and wipe.
  • Be able to hear and talk.
  • Good close and distant vision and ability to adjust focus between the two.
