Global Specialty Solutions (GSS) is a business unit that sits within the broader FMC corporation. The Market Specialists reports to the North America Sales Manager for the Turf and Ornamental Market.
Function Overview:
This Market Specialist role is responsible for representing FMC Professional Solutions in the Mid-South Region to create demand and maximize sales for the Turf and Ornamental business. The successful individual will collaborate with cross functional teams such as marketing, key account management, product development and other departments to generate demand for FMC products. This position is responsible for working with both end-users and distributors within their territory, to position products, introduce new brands and train customers on proper application and stewardship. This role will report to the North America Turf and Ornamental Sales Manager.

Responsibilities
- Prepare sales presentations, call plans, proposals and reports for internal and external communication
- Focus on sales targets, business development, building customer relationships and resolving customer issues
- Responsible for generating demand by delivering product related information to customers, distributors, sales/tech reps, end users, consultant groups and others in the designated territory
- Develop and execute sales plans; negotiating to meet sales targets if applicable
- Obtain and communicate competitive practices and assist in the assessment of competitive information, such as: products and positioning
- Support internal sales campaigns through establishing cross-functional relationships with Key Account Management and Marketing to ensure alignment with product attributes, positioning and program fit
- Deliver presentations to establish and further strengthen relationships with key influencer and consultant groups
- Deliver CEU training to customers, distributors, and key accounts
- Ability to Call on Associations, Trade Groups, Distribution Reps, Key End Users, End User Service companies
- Manage customer trials and demos to accumulate field data for the commercial development of products, label expansion and if applicable to resolve technical issues that arise from the use of our products.
- Coordinate with technical service managers when needed to ensure timely technical service to customers
- Ensure customers and end users are using products in accordance to the applicable label directions while also ensuring proper maintenance, storage and transportation.
- Assist customers and end users in optimizing efficacy of Professional Solutions products in a manner consistent with environmental stewardship and protection.
- Require 60% travel to service territory responsibilities
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or related field with experience in golf and/or ornamental Industry
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of sales or industry experience
- Self-Starter with the ability to work independently in a remote location
- Strong interpersonal skills; experience fostering a sense of teamwork and collaboration with others
- Awareness of FMC Professional Solutions products, their purpose, and customers
- Experience and interest in working in either the golf, lawncare or ornamental industry
- A willingness to learn new markets and identify opportunities within them
- Analytical skills to understand key competitive products and recognize competitive opportunities and risks
- Comfortable presenting information to both large and small audiences
- Understanding of market dynamics; can develop/recommend specific actions
- Applies analytical approach to competitive market information
- Recognizes issues and problems and takes action to solve
- Ability to develop relationships and support with local accounts
- Demonstrated the ability to make independent judgments with review from management
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with middle to senior management
- Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Familiar with and comfortable using Power Point and other Microsoft tools
