Full Job Description:
The Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) team seeks to provide tools, equipment, and environments that promote safe, efficient and healthy behaviors and encourage employees to take control of their health. To support these goals, Amazon is looking for an experienced and innovative Site Health Representative (OMR) to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the WHS Site Manager, WHS Specialist and Injury Prevention Specialist (IPS). You will be expected to self-assess and provide first aid (e.g. for physical injuries), advise Amazon Associates (AA) on occupational and non-occupational injuries, have good communication skills , and can negotiate with AA, as well as Amazon. Managers. You will enjoy learning and applying your knowledge of health and wellness to the members of A.A. daily care. You will refer to outside health professionals as necessary and learn about OSHA regulations, hazards and inspections. Practical experience in ergonomics is beneficial. However, the topic of ergonomics will also be addressed as part of continuing education. The OMR will work as part of the wider team on site, helping to provide assistance for all first aid needs and operational support if required. This includes attending weekly social committee meetings, welcoming new employees to the site, or being part of a team during a new job posting or through one-on-one interactions. OMR will also participate in incident reviews and review weekly case management meetings as required.
Services include, but are not limited to:
• Provide first aid, first aid and/or referral to external health care providers, if indicated. • Reduce the risk of injury in AA through awareness, education, and intervention.
• Keep records of all care provided to AA members.
• Develop a first aid plan for AA members recovering from injury, focusing on injury prevention, including self-care instructions as needed. • Facilitate and manage workers' compensation and return to work processes for associates with work-related injuries.
• Provide daily activity records and end of shift reports. • Often spends time in the warehouse to interact with AAs and managers to train them in hazardous work behaviors.
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment. • Inspect and ensure proper medication supplies are maintained.
• Participate in special projects and ad hoc assigned tasks. • Requires training to teach first aid, CPR and AED courses.
• Works flexible shifts that may include days, nights and/or weekends. • Communicates effectively.
