The Strategy and Scope Manager will help shape and execute Wayfair's strategy as we build and grow stores across North America. Specifically, they will recommend the right type of furniture and home improvement. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with experience building business models in the home space. Our physical retail division operates as a supporting company within Wayfair's entrepreneurial culture. In order to be successful in this role, you need to draw strength from working without confusion, setting a vision for your essay while you are turning your hand, and being a strong brand advocate and supervisor and senior managers, co-workers and leaders. . The General Manager will work with the Wayfair Head Category Merchant to develop sales models and strategies to ensure sales goals, margins and inventory are met. Categories include: Carpets+Textiles, Home Decor and Home Appliances. This is a variety with significant experience in depth, breadth, fullness, and non-discharge.
They will be responsible for leading the development of plans in advance and in time - at the departmental level. Leading a team of planners and analysts, they will work closely with cross-functional partners (e.g. marketing, visual marketing, marketing, operational partners) operations, sales forecasting, investment and store operations). We are looking for a motivated leader who can drive strong productivity, profitability and market share to increase customer satisfaction in our physical retail business. This role is based in Boston and reports to the Director of Planning + Allocation, Wayfair, Physical Retail, with extensive operational responsibility, and responsibility for building best-in-class systems, reporting and tools. As the physical store portfolio grows, the Associate Manager should expect to build a team that will manage the growing store value.
Functions:
Achieve performance results within your store (sales, margins, inventory) and the ability to communicate business needs clearly and concisely to management and operational partners.
Develop a strategic marketing plan throughout the product life cycle that achieves the company's financial goals. Early stage: Collaborate with vendors to create customized product models that meet customer, store, and financial needs: design process, sku design, product design, redemption plan, and quality depth .
Timely, lead meetings necessary to review and react to the business: weekly business meetings, monthly OTB, quarterly reviews, and annual plan development. Manage the range to bring options to life in the store.
Collaborate with policy departments, partner operations and supply chain to ensure inventory needs are met
Identify, introduce and implement new process improvements that include our CFT touchpoints. Generate quantitative and qualitative data, and test and learn processes, to continuously improve performance
Adjust procedures over time as necessary and provide appropriate and timely instructions to respond to customer and business needs
Through regional expansion, establish and test the effectiveness of regional marketing solutions
Work with Wayfair's e-commerce team to create premium omnichannel offerings
Work with the support team to generate sales and promotions by promoting merchandise.
Is required:
Relevant experience in physical merchandising required, with experience in a home or related department (eg general merchandise)
Over 3 years of business management experience involving various products
Marketing strategy and/or prospecting strategy
Lead an adult/fill-in group
Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives
Ability to implement strategies and deliver results to a diverse group of members. Ability to identify, introduce and implement new process improvements.
Ability to apply data (quantitative and qualitative) to drive strategic and execution decisions.
Able to collaborate at all levels and functions of the organization to achieve goals
Evidence of "failed startup damage" and "get it done" behavior when times are tough and high stakes.
