The chief data scientist provides advanced science efforts for United's loyalty program, MileagePlus. Using some of the most comprehensive team data available in any industry, data scientists are tasked with finding new opportunities to improve programs and new product opportunities with insights and intelligent models that drive business results. This person will want to set an example that other data scientists on the team can follow to achieve the best results for the business. This role is a hybrid position based in our Chicago office
Main functions:
Solve business problems with data solutions
Discuss business challenges and opportunities with co-workers
Provide an overview of the current data assets
Educate stakeholders about opportunities to model information
Make a business case by testing a model that will be tested and approved
Adapt existing models based on new data resources or changing business environments
Communicate with victims
Present the results of data science work in a format that can be understood by business users who are not familiar with the technical details
Create on relevant metrics and provide expert advice to business partners in partnership meetings
Works with leading technologies to solve data problems
Develop strong visual cues for easy results recognition
Guidance
Advise team members of best practices and standard procedures
Lead by example, document successes and failures to build long-term knowledge
Enables decision makers and peers to leverage data-driven thinking and problem solving
