Summary
Apple's Technology Development Group (TDG) is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us build cutting-edge applications for our next generation interactive computing platforms. Imagine leading the development of amazing applications based on Apple's most advanced technologies, while developing your expertise in Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR).
As the principal senior member of our team, your role is to own the architecture and execution of complex and new features; while you work with your colleagues. You will also work closely with Apple organizations (Human Interface, Framework, etc.) to design and distribute apps that will delight, inspire and empower millions of users.
Key requirements
- Extensive experience building and shipping complex and compelling applications or user-facing systems on consumer platforms (mobile/web/gaming/etc).
- Extensive experience in modern software engineering practices (object-oriented programming, functional programming, declarative user interfaces, test-driven development, etc.). Solid foundations of computer science.
- Detail oriented approach to planning, execution and maintenance. Excellent communication skills; Ability to collaborate successfully with colleagues of diverse experiences and backgrounds.
- Ability to drive results in a fast and agile organization.
Description

As a member of our team, you'll be at the forefront of dreaming, developing and delivering innovative experiences that build on the unique capabilities of AR and VR in a variety of areas. Our application engineering team is uniquely positioned at the intersection of design, frameworks, operating systems and low-level software - joining us, you'll work closely with your peers in these roles to deliver life-changing products of our customers.
The ideal Senior Engineer for this role brings a proven track record of shipping high quality applications to customers. Grow into a dynamic and agile organization designed to pioneer the new medium of AR/VR. He loves answering questions through prototyping and experimenting, and then translating those answers into shipping code that impacts the lives of millions of customers. Lead by example by implementing best practices and championing quality in your work and that of others. He respects debate and enjoys working in groups with different technical and non-technical backgrounds and different opinions.
Educational experience
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science OR equivalent Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience
Additional Requirements
- Optional: Experience with Apple development frameworks and technologies (Swift, ObjC, SwiftUI, UIKit, etc).
- Optional: Familiarity with rendering APIs (RealityKit, Metal, etc). Optional: Familiarity with ARKit.
- Optional: Familiarity with game engine design and 3D rendering. Optional: solid foundation of linear algebra/3D math.
- Optional: Experience prototyping user-facing features and working with designers. Optional: Proven experience designing and creating enjoyable user experiences.
- Optional: Experience mentoring and/or providing technical leadership to engineering groups.
Pay and benefits
At Apple, the base salary is part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary range for this role is $115,000 - $217,500 and your base salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience and location.
