Job Description

  • The Scientific Officer performs his duties diligently and methodically to analyse specimens allotted to him / her. These specimens are analysed as per procedure approved in SOP.
  • Check the specimens received with the Test Requisition Form and give the same for Data Entry & Barcode Generation and generate worksheets for tests.
  • Control of pre-analytical, analytical and post- analytical variables in performance of tests
  • To perform those functions, which require subjective judgement to directly achieve analytical results, under supervision of the Consultant.
  • Must receive approval of the Consultant in making decisions in assessing calibration, control and acceptability of analytical runs for all laboratory data.
  • Must observe all laboratory safety precautions in the handling of clinical specimens and running of tests.
  • Shall ensure that analytical and post-analytical variables are precluded.
  • Assists senior staff in the discharge of their responsibilities including release of routine test reports.
  • Must bring to the notice of his/her section supervisor any abnormal findings/test conditions required for specific attention of the supervisor.
  • Shall carry out donor screening and motivation.
  • Shall perform all laboratory related duties including phlebotomy and aphaeresis.
  • Shall issue blood and components after proper grouping and cross matching.
  • Shall carry out daily and periodical maintenance of equipment under charge.
  • Shall complete record files and registers & keep work place clean and uncluttered
  • Shall follow safety precautions.
