JOB SUMMARY
The Tire Maintenance Manager hires, trains and oversees the work of technicians who monitor the maintenance and overall condition of tires on company equipment. This position enforces and administers quality and safety policies and procedures, oversees the work of personnel performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and ensures that all parts and technician hours are entered on repair orders.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.
- In collaboration with senior management and the Human Resources department, hire, train and supervise staff.
- Schedule and monitor service and repairs.
- Communicate with the maintenance team, operators and drivers about the current status of equipment being repaired.
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure proper repairs are made and units are road worthy.
- Update the database with current and accurate data.
- Conduct daily safety meeting with crew.
- Prioritize scheduled maintenance.
- Open, review and close repair orders.
- Assign personnel to jobs based on their capabilities.
- Determine necessary repairs and order the parts required to service scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
- Ensure all materials have a material safety data sheet (MSDS) on hand, that all MSDS books are current and that all personnel are trained on how to use and read a MSDS.
- Complete annual employee performance reviews.
- Attend monthly safety meetings.
- Comply with and enforce compliance with company rules policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or its equivalent and at least 10 years of experience working on commercial vehicles OR completion of a technical school program and at least four years of experience
- At least five years of supervisory experience in a shop environment
- Strong mechanical background
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite – e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)
- At least one year of experience using the Microsoft Office suite of products – i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook
- College or technical school-level coursework in automotive maintenance
REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
- Valid Class C driver’s license
- Safe driving record for the past three years
