ABOUT THE ROLE
Prepare analysis, give recommendations, and assist in evaluating insurance applications, assessing risks, and determining appropriate coverage and pricing. Responsible for all pricing activities in supporting Sales and Account Management for renewing and new sales clients, guided by Underwriting policies and guidelines. This individual utilizes analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of underwriting principles to contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the underwriting department.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Evaluate and review rates for new groups and active groups.
- Make sound and deep analyses with recommendations, based on the guidelines established.
- Communicate with account representatives, clinical personnel, and others to obtain information before determining rates to be quoted.
- Determine the adequacy and appropriateness of data used in the rate determination process.
- Identify situations that expose the company to adverse selection and make recommendations to improve underwriting results.
- Collaborate with sales on rate negotiations and explain the basis for rate determinations.
- Prepare reports to monitor results of the book of business by renewal month and the projected loss ratio.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative field preferred. 1 year of previous experience in insurance underwriting, risk analysis, or related roles preferred. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, assess risk, and make informed decisions.
