Summary:
The Valve Technician is responsible for assembling (disassembly) valve/packing cases and inspecting all items that come into the Valve shop.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble (disassembly) valves/packing cases correctly and in a timely manner.
- Test all valves and packing cases according to company procedures.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Participate in company Lean and 5S initiatives
Skills:
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Education and Experience:
- HS diploma or related job experience
- Be able to read O.D. and depths mics along with dial calipers.
Mental/Visual/Physical Effort:
- Regularly required to stand for long periods of time
- Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feet
- Occasionally required to sit
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
MATERIAL HAZARDS:
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
